Jet Li’s The Enforcer (AKA My Father is a Hero): 8.3 out of 10

Starring: Jet Li

This is a movie, re-released in North America under the name “Enforcer” as a part of the Jet Li collection. This is one of the only martial arts films I have seen in which the main character is a father. Typically, characters, particularly those of Jet Li are more rebellious and young people that fight against some other injustice. This film is about an undercover cop named Kung Wei that is forced to take on another mission away from his young son Johnny Kung and his wife of failing health. Kung Wei is assigned to infiltrate a criminal organization to capture a crime boss (who I think is played by Yuen Kwai, but I’m not totally sure). Meanwhile, Johnny (who is also a martial arts expert) is dragged into the mix with the crime gang and Kung Wei is forced to pretend he doesn’t know Johnny. The crime gang is planning to rig a swank cruise ship hosted auction with remote explosives and extort all the people money and jewelry. Before the plan goes down, Kung Wei gets exposed for his fallacy and they find out he is a cop. They continue on their plan to raid the cruise but what do you think Jet has to say about that … well you have to see it. I can say for this movie what I can say for few others…. I actually liked the story. There is not all that much fighting in it, but the plot is somewhat enjoyable

I SUGGEST YOU WATCH FOR: “What did you do to my ants?!?!” Johnny Kung exclaims in vengeful tonality before he fucks up the whole schoolyard. Wish my school days were like that! Watch for Jet fighting with the tonfas (nightsticks) and the small but cool rope maneuvers at the end.

THE BEST FIGHT: No contest, it’s the one at the end of the movie one the boat when Jet fights a huge group of guards with a pair of metal tonfas!
